Landlord Household Insurance

Home & Legacy recognise that some landlords require only the essential cover for their let property to ensure that it is safe and protected should something unforeseen occur. 

Whilst Home & Legacy's Landlord Household Insurance includes these essential features, it also provides property owners liability to cover their legal liability should the tenant be injured, and cover for loss of rent following an insured event.  Our Landlord Household Insurance gives the landlord the flexibility to choose to increase the cover limits and to add cover to suit their individual needs.

Major features of Landlord Household Insurance

In addition to some of the more usual covers like fire, flood, storm, water damage due to burst pipes and theft the following are also included as ‘standard’:

  • Property Owners Liability (includes liability for injury to the tenants occupying the property) up to £2,000,000
  • Trace and Access - Up to £5,000 towards the cost of tracing damage resulting from water having leaked from pipes or water apparatus
  • Intentional or malicious damage – including riots, theft and malicious damage. Malicious damage by tenants is included with Buildings insurance (a £1,000 excess applies for malicious damage by tenant)
  • Accidental Damage to glass, sanitary fittings and underground pipes
  • Loss of rent or the cost of alternative accommodation for your client or their tenants following the property being made uninhabitable by an insured event for example, by a fire or flood (amount payable under the cover is up to 20% of the sum insured)
  • Subsidence, Heave or Landslip
  • In addition to the standard covers on an optional basis (at an additional cost) cover can be extended to include Accidental damage (including accidental damage by tenants)
