Landlord Household Insurance

Home & Legacy’s Landlord Household Insurance provides landlords with an essential level of cover, giving them the reassurance of knowing that their property has the protection it needs.

The policy includes essential features such as property owners liability and loss of rent following an insured event.  It offers the ability to tailor the cover to suit your needs for example, the contents cover offered can accommodate fully furnished or part/unfurnished properties.  There is also the option to include accidental damage by tenants (at an additional cost).

Premiums can start from only £75 before adding insurance premium tax.

Major features of landlord Household Insurance:

In addition to some of the more usual covers like fire, flood, storm, water damage due to burst pipes and theft the following are also included as ‘standard’

  • Cover for your liability as owner of the property of up to £2,000,000.  This includes any liability you may have for injury to tenants or damage to the tenants property
  • Trace and Access cover - Up to £5,000 towards the cost of tracing damage resulting from water having leaked from pipes or water apparatus
  • Intentional or malicious damage – including riots, theft and malicious damage. Malicious damage by tenants is included for damage to the buildings but a £1,000 excess will apply.
  • Accidental Damage to glass, sanitary fittings and underground pipes
  • In the event that your property is made uninhabitable following an insured event for instance, a flood or a fire, the policy covers your loss of rent or the costs towards alternative accommodation for you or your tenants (amount payable under the cover is up to 20% of the sum insured) 
  • Subsidence, Heave or Landslip
  • On an optional basis (at an additional cost) cover can be extended to include accidental damage (including accidental damage by tenants)
