Once you have registered your details on the website, we will send you an email which contains a user name and password. Any personal information that you provide us when applying for insurance by completing forms that we have made available on this website may be used for any of the following purposes:

Insurance Administration

Information you supply may be used for the purposes of insurance administration by the insurers, their associated companies and agents, by re-insurers. It may be disclosed to regulatory bodies for the purposes of monitoring and/or enforcing the insurers’ compliance with any regulatory rules/codes. Your information may also be used for offering renewal, research and statistical purposes and crime prevention. It may be transferred to any country, including countries outside the European Economic Area for any of these purposes and for systems administration.

If you give us information about another person when you apply for insurance, in doing so you confirm that they have given you permission to provide it to us and for us to be able to process their personal data (including any sensitive personal data) and that you have told them who we are and what we will use their data for as set out in this notice.

In assessing any claims you have made, the insurer or its agents may undertake checks against publicly available information (such as electoral roll, county court judgments, bankruptcy orders or repossessions). Information may also be shared with other insurers either directly or via those acting for the insurer (such as loss adjusters or investigators).

Credit Searches and Accounting

In assessing your application for insurance, to prevent fraud, check your identity and to maintain policy records, the insurers may search files made available to it by credit reference agencies who may keep a record of that search.

Credit reference agencies share information with other organisations enabling applications for financial products to be assessed or to assist the tracing of debtors or to prevent fraud.

The insurers may ask credit reference agencies to provide a credit scoring computation. Credit scoring uses a number of factors to work out risks involved in any application. A score is given to each factor and a total score obtained. Where automatic credit scoring computations are used by an insurer, acceptance or rejection of your application will not depend only on the results of the credit scoring process.

Sensitive Data

In order to assess the terms of the insurance contract or administer any claims which arise, the insurer may need to collect data which the Data Protection Act defines as sensitive (which includes such information as medical history, criminal convictions, claims history). By proceeding with an application for insurance you will signify your consent to such information being processed by the insurers or its agents. Without your consent we will be unable to offer you any insurance products.

Fraud Prevention and Detection

In order to prevent and detect fraud insurers may at any time:

• Share information about you with other organisations and public bodies including the police and other investigatory bodies ;
• Undertake credit searches and additional fraud searches;
• Check and/or file your details with fraud prevention agencies and databases, and if you give us false or inaccurate information and fraud is suspected, it will be recorded.

Insurers and other organisations may also search these agencies and databases to:

• Help make decisions about the provision and administration of insurance, credit and related services for you and members of your household;
• Trace debtors or beneficiaries, recover debt, prevent fraud and to manage your accounts or insurance policies;
• Check your identity to prevent money laundering, unless you furnish us with other satisfactory proof of identity;
• Undertake credit searches and additional fraud searches.

We can supply on request further details of the databases insurers access or contribute to.

Marketing Preferences

If you agree, we will use your contact details to communicate with you. We may ask for your views to help us improve our service or to send you news and information or offers about products and services provided by Home and Legacy Insurance Services Limited or carefully selected third parties which we think may be of interest to you. Please be aware that any third parties will be carefully selected and we will always be cautious about letting anyone else contact you. 5. Premium Payment

Our website is integrated to SecureTrading a leading independent payment processor. When you are prompted to pay the premium for any policies you arrange on our website your payment will be processed by SecureTrading. Home & Legacy will not store any of your payment details.

6. Access to your Information

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you at any time (for which we may charge a small fee which is currently £10.00).

7. Other Websites

This website may contain links to other websites which are outside our control and are not covered by this policy. If you access other sites using any links we have provided, the operators of these sites may collect information from you which will be used by them in accordance with their policy which explains how they will use your information. This may be different from ours. We accept no responsibility or liability for the content of these websites and if you choose to visit another website via our website you will need to contact them separately to have your personal data deleted from their records which they may hold.
